Welcome to Cozy Acres.
A Family Farm Since 2008
Our family consists of Stewart and Tracey Tietjen and their six children. We farm approximately 170 Acres, 90 acres is for rotational grazing, the rest is for hay production for winter feeding and the woods for wildlife.
We are very passionate about what we do and want the highest quality products for our family and customers. We do not use; antibiotics, vaccines, hormones, herbicides, wormers, pesticides or any other chemicals on our farm. We don’t over graze or deplete the good health of the animals or the pastures. It is important for us to be good stewards of the land, because this helps reduce parasites, builds the soil and distributes nutrients from their waste into valuable fertilizer.
We focus on the health of the animals. We strive for preventing problems so that they can provide us with the food we want and our bodies need. The animals are processed when they come off the green grass pastures, so they have the most nutrient-dense meat with the highest omega-3 and vitamin D.
We currently have a herd of approximately 35 purebred Black Angus Cattle with Calves and breeding bulls. Our cattle are born here, raised here and never fed grain. The cattle are rotationally grazed throughout the summer using management intensive rotational grazing, our cattle are moved to fresh grass every few days. Our paddock size varies depending on the height of the grass, number of animals and time of year. This insures that they're always consuming fresh grass and allowing the forage to be at its peak in nutritional value. Our cattle are also supplemented with free choice Redmond salt and minerals.
Our cattle are processed locally where the finish product is state inspected for resale. Our processed meat is made using only "our" meat, brats, hot dogs and meat sticks without chemicals, fillers, nitrates and nitrites. We also sell ground beef, steaks, roasts etc. by the pound, quarters, halves and whole beef are also available.
We also raise pastured chickens. They have constant access to vegetation, water, food and sun/shade and protected at all times. They're also fed local un-medicated feed and sold as federally inspected frozen whole chickens.
We are also planning to raise pastured turkeys and pastured pork in 2017
